Midweeks.net – Book your stay in the Ardennes during the week

As innovative projects which aim to promote the Ardennes are particularly close to my heart, I will present the Midweeks.net platform to you.

But what is Midweeks?

First of all, what does Midweeks mean? well, the term “midweek” or “mid-week” means in English “The middle of the week”. In tourist jargon, the term designates a tourist stay from Monday to Friday.

This project was founded by a Belgian, Benoit Dessaucy during Hack Ardennes, a hackathon dedicated to e-tourism which was held in Sedan last April.

He started from a very simple observation: The Ardennes is a holiday destination appreciated for its many assets
including its nature and its landscapes... If tourists storm the hotels, holiday lodges, guest houses during their days off, weekends and holidays, the attendance of these is much lower during the week. Many accommodations remain empty for 5 days. This is therefore a significant shortfall for the owners the platform aims to absorb.

If you want to book on a weekend, it’s not worth it. Benoit's platform aims to reserve weekday stays in the Ardennes.

You will be able to book one, two or three nights during the week. But if you have chosen midweek as your stay, from Monday to Friday, you receive an advantage called “the midweek bonus” which depends on the accommodation chosen.

For example: a bottle of local beer, a welcome cocktail, a meal or even experiences such as a tour or a guided walk or even an exclusive mini-concert in the room by the owner of the accommodation...

The ambition of Midweeks.net? Complete the weekday reservation calendars for tourist accommodation throughout the Ardennes, a vast territory which includes the French and Belgian Ardennes: part of the provinces
from Liège, Namur and Hainaut and of course from Luxembourg.

The accommodation showed such interest during the Hack Ardennes that the project continued.

among the approximately 200 partner accommodations: the Hôtel le Val de Poix in Poix-Saint-Hubert, the Domaine du Vivier des Cresses in Longchamps, not far from Bastogne, the “A quiet place” guest rooms in Rossignol, the “Aux Légendes d’Ardenne” gîte in Carlsbourg, the Hostellerie du Château de Sedan and the Hôtel La Rive in Bourcheid in the Ardennes Luxembourgish…

Initially, it was a question of focusing on more flexible customers who could be
tempted by the “off season”. The main advantages for them, which deserve
to be better known, are the lower prices (up to 50% less in some
case) and more calm because there are fewer people (so far!).
But it turns out that Midweeks.net also has its purpose for others
periods of the year. For example, for the All Saints’ Day holidays which
come, it is possible to get good deals by leaving for five
days and four nights, Monday to Friday. Midweek is called to be
finally finally recognized as a very good plan and becoming a trend
tourism in the coming years. Midweeks.net – and its name says it all
good – wants to establish itself on the Internet as the reference for this type of stay.
The platform, bilingual and soon tri-, will evolve continuously. She goes
continue to accommodate accommodation, limiting ourselves to 300 initially
time for organizational reasons. Different actions are planned to
make the concept known to future midweekers in the Ardennes.
